Our at-home ultrasound service includes mobile ultrasound and color Doppler imaging performed directly in the patient’s living environment. This allows for safe and effective diagnostics without requiring a hospital visit.
What Is At-Home Ultrasound Imaging?
At-home ultrasound refers to the process in which a qualified radiologist visits the patient’s home with a modern, portable ultrasound device to perform the examination.
Who Can Benefit from At-Home Ultrasound?
Ultrasound is a widely used diagnostic tool in the management of various medical conditions. It is particularly beneficial for:
Bedridden patients
Individuals with chronic illnesses
Neurological conditions (e.g., spinal cord injuries, stroke, Alzheimer’s)
Orthopedic cases (e.g., hip, knee, or arm fractures)
Heart conditions
Cancer treatments
This service eliminates the need for patients with limited mobility to travel to a healthcare facility for imaging.
Who Performs the Ultrasound?
The procedure is carried out by a licensed and experienced radiologist who is fully trained in mobile imaging. These professionals are just as skilled in using portable devices at home as they are in hospital-based settings.
How to Request an Ultrasound at Home?
If a physician overseeing the patient’s home care deems ultrasound imaging necessary, the family can request the service through our Home Healthcare Coordination Team. After evaluating the patient’s condition and logistical requirements, the procedure is scheduled and organized.
How Is the Procedure Performed?
The radiologist evaluates the patient’s position and ensures proper placement for the scan.
The portable ultrasound device is set up and prepared.
Using a probe and ultrasound gel, live images are captured.
The imaging data is stored directly on the device.
Results are digitally shared with the patient’s primary physician and family members within 1 hour.
A printed report or CD can also be provided upon request for follow-up care.
